First Things First improves children’s access to health care by increasing the number of children with continuous medical, mental health and dental insurance coverage. FTF also strives to expand access to medical and dental homes and increase medical professionals’ use of best practice guidelines for preventive medical, oral and mental health care.
Prevention and early identification of health problems can be critical in preparing a child to be ready to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. FTF expands the use of early screening to identify children with developmental delays and increases accessibility to needed treatment services identified through screening.
