The Yuma Region is defined as Yuma County, not including the lands belonging to the Cocopah Indian Tribe. The Arizona portion of the Fort Yuma-Quechan Reservation is also located within the region along the Colorado River near the city of Yuma.
Priorities
The Yuma Regional Partnership Council makes strategic investments to support the healthy development and learning of the young children in the region. The regional council’s priorities include:
- Improving the quality of child care and preschool programs
- Scholarships for children to access high-quality early learning
- Improving the quality of family, friend and neighbor care
- Strengthening families through voluntary home visiting, parenting education and supporting children with special needs
- Supporting early literacy by increasing access to books
- Oral health screenings and fluoride varnishes
- Promoting health, nutrition and physical activity
